ABOUT THE COURSE

Indore Institute of Science and Technology (IIST) offers a four-year undergraduate B. Tech Robotics and Artificial Intelligence course. The program aims to provide students with the comprehensive knowledge and skills needed to innovate, design, and implement advanced robotic systems and AI solutions while emphasising ethical considerations and real-world applications.

The BTech in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving fields of robotics and AI. The curriculum focuses on fundamental principles such as kinematics, dynamics, and control systems, essential for understanding robot behaviour and mechanics. Students delve into artificial intelligence and machine learning, exploring algorithms, deep learning, and ethical considerations. Sensing and perception modules cover computer vision, sensor fusion, and signal processing, enabling robots to interpret and interact with their environment effectively. Human-robot interaction (HRI) emphasises designing user interfaces and collaborative robots (cobots) that can safely and efficiently work alongside humans. The program also covers autonomous systems, including navigation, path planning, and self-driving technologies, ensuring students are adept at developing advanced autonomous solutions. Embedded systems and real-time computing are integral to the curriculum, focusing on programming microcontrollers, real-time processing, and hardware-software integration. Control and optimisation techniques are taught to enhance the efficiency and adaptability of robotic systems, often drawing inspiration from biological systems.

The program also addresses the ethical and safety implications of deploying AI and robotic systems, ensuring graduates are well-versed in regulatory compliance and safety protocols. Additionally, robotics software development, including Robot Operating System (ROS) and simulation tools, is emphasised to provide students with practical skills in developing robust robotic applications. Finally, the program explores various applications of robotics and AI, such as healthcare robotics, industrial automation, and service robotics, preparing students to innovate and make significant contributions across diverse sectors.
